HF Takes to the Courts at Glasgow’s Newest Racket Barn
At HF, our strength has always been our people. Across HF Mechanical & Electrical, Fire & Security, Comms, and Controls, our divisions often work together, delivering complex projects and keeping critical systems moving across the country.
Yesterday evening, however, the team traded tools, hard hats, and technical drawings for padel rackets at Glasgow’s newest sports venue, Racket Barn.
Located in Govan, the new facility provided the perfect setting for a night focused on team building, exercise, and friendly competition.

Mixing, Matching, and Moving
Events like this highlight what makes HF such a special place to work. It wasn’t just about playing a game; it was an opportunity for team members across every corner of the business, from site engineers and project managers to office staff and division leads to connect outside of the usual workplace environment.
Padel, known for its fast-paced, accessible double-play format, proved to be an instant hit. Whether seasoned racket sports players or complete novices picking up a padel racket for the first time, everyone got straight into the spirit of the game.
A Champion Crowned, a Win for Everyone
While every match was packed with rallies and plenty of laughs, a huge shout-out goes to Mark Doherty, who played spectacularly to take home the title of champion on the night!
That said, the real victory was the atmosphere on court. Beyond the scorelines, the evening was a testament to the strong community culture we continue to build at HF. Great culture isn’t just spoken about in company values, it’s lived through moments like these where colleagues encourage each other, share a laugh, and build genuine connections.

Why Culture Matters at HF
Creating a supportive, active, and inclusive work environment is central to our ethos. Work hard, support one another, and take time to celebrate as a team. That is what makes HF not just a leader in engineering services, but a truly great place to work.
A big thank you to the team at Racket Barn Glasgow for hosting us in their incredible new venue, and to everyone from Mechanical & Electrical, Fire & Security, Comms, and Controls who came along to make the night such a resounding success.
Here’s to the next HF Group social on the courts!
