The End of an Era
They say that a company is only as strong as its people. If that is the case, then for the last 35 (and a bit) years, HF has been bolstered by one of the very best. Today, we gather, with a mix of sadness and immense gratitude, to say a final “thank you” and a very fond farewell to Stuart Dron, who officially retires from HF today.
Stuart’s journey with us is the stuff of company legend. It began on September 10, 1990, when a 24-year-old electrician walked through our doors for the first time. From that very first day, a “trial by fire” assignment proved he was made of the right stuff.
A Legacy Built on Quality
In those early years, Stuart’s meticulous craftsmanship in high-end domestic electrical work helped set the standard for what an “HF job” should look like. He didn’t just install wiring; he helped strengthen our reputation.
His transition from the tools to the office just three years into his tenure saw him help shape what is now our Small Works Division. As an Estimator and Contract Manager, Stuart’s unique ability to see a project through both a practical and commercial lens was invaluable. He bridged the gap between a client’s initial vision and a successful completion, ensuring that HF remained competitive without ever sacrificing the quality we are known for.
More Than Just a Contract Manager
While his technical expertise is undeniable, Stuart’s true legacy at HF is the character he brought to the office every day.
In a world that is constantly changing, Stuart remained a constant. He was a guardian of the core values that Hugh Fulton first built this company on and the belief that every job, no matter the size, deserves the utmost care.
For our younger staff and apprentices, Stuart has been a mentor and a quiet leader. He has been the “team behind the team,” sharing decades of knowledge and ensuring that the HF ethos was passed down to the next generation of engineers and estimators.
Dressing to Impress: The Final Day
True to form, Stuart didn’t sneak out the back door on his final afternoon. Instead, he decided to mark his last day in the Glasgow office by “dressing to impress.” A reminder that he is a man of standards, from start to finish.
A Massive Thank You
Stuart, as you hang up your calculator for the final time, the entire HF family across the UK wants to say a massive thank you.
Thank you for the thousands of projects managed and for being a cornerstone of our Glasgow roots.
Retirement is the ultimate “project completion” so it is time to enjoy the fruits of three and a half decades of hard work. We hope your retirement is filled with the same joy and success that you brought to HF every single day.
On behalf of the leadership team, your colleagues, and the many clients who have benefited from your expertise over the years: Congratulations, Stuart. Enjoy every minute of your well-earned retirement.
