HF Apprentices Secure Historic Wins at the SECTT Regional Finals!

The winning streak at HF shows absolutely no signs of stopping.

Following our massive recent success in the plumbing sector, our electrical division has officially taken centre stage, completely dominating the Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT) Apprentice of the Year West of Scotland regional heat!

The event, held at the New College Lanarkshire Motherwell campus, marked the third and final regional heat of this fiercely contested national competition. Bringing together the elite rising talent from across regional colleges, the tournament pushes the brightest 1st and 2nd-year electrical apprentices to their absolute technical limits.

And when the dust settled, the HF squad took over the podium!

Meet Our Award-Winning Champions

🏆 Jack Byrnes – 1st Stage Winner (Glasgow Clyde College, Cardonald Campus)

Not only did Jack claim the title of SECTT 1st Year Apprentice of the Year for his campus, but he also knocked it out of the park by winning Overall First Place in the entire West of Scotland heat! This monumental victory means Jack has officially secured his golden ticket to the National Grand Finals later this year to compete for the ultimate title.

🏆 Benjamin Bowman – 2nd Stage Recognition (West of Scotland College, Clydebank Campus) Proving that the depth of talent at HF runs deep, Benjamin put on a masterclass display of technical skill, earning the coveted title of SECTT 2nd Year Apprentice of the Year for his respective campus.

And, of course, a shoutout has to go to our fantastic team behind the scenes because elite apprentices don’t just appear overnight, they are backed by the best mentoring team in the business!

Managed on behalf of the Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB), SECTT oversees the gold standard of industry-approved training programs across Scotland. For our apprentices to out-shine hundreds of peers across 22 approved training centers proves that the standard we set here at HF is truly world-class.

Because we hold our technical standards high, we exclusively scout our future superstars from top-performing pre-apprenticeship students.

If your goal is to follow in the footsteps of Jack and Ben, your journey starts by enrolling in a foundational 16-week Pre-Apprenticeship course at one of our regional college hubs across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, or Aberdeen. Complete the course at the top of your class, and the college will put you directly on our radar for an interview.
