We are proud to celebrate the achievements of our Electrical apprentice and student at Glasgow Clyde College, Jude, who has been selected to join the prestigious WorldSkills UK training programme. This marks the beginning of an 18-month journey as Jude aims to secure a place on Team UK for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, the world’s largest skills competition.
Following his success in national skills competitions, WorldSkills UK, in partnership with Pearson, has announced Jude’s selection for its intensive training programme. This initiative prepares the UK’s top young professionals to compete at the ‘Skills Olympics’, where they will showcase their expertise in front of a global audience.
WorldSkills is regarded as the ultimate test of a nation’s ability to meet future skills demands. Hosted for the first time in Shanghai, China, the 2026 event will welcome 1,500 competitors from over 80 countries, competing in disciplines ranging from engineering and manufacturing to digital and hospitality, in front of 250,000 spectators. The UK will be represented in over 30 skill categories, including Renewable Energy, where Jude hopes to make his mark.
“I am delighted with my progress so far and incredibly grateful for the support from both HF Electrical and Glasgow Clyde College. The investment from WorldSkills UK in my development is invaluable, and I look forward to the next 18 months of training. My goal is to represent Team UK at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 and showcase the best of UK talent on a global stage.”
At HF, we take great pride in supporting the development of young talent in the engineering sector. Barry Faichnie, Curriculum Manager at Glasgow Clyde College, also shared his enthusiasm for Jude’s achievement:
“Jude’s commitment and drive are truly exceptional. His success in the WorldSkills Renewable Energy discipline is an inspiration to us all. Over the next 18 months, he will refine his skills to an elite level, gaining invaluable experience that will shape his future career.”
