A New Champion is Crowned
The fairways of Deer Park Golf Club were flooded with sunshine and set the stage for a day of sport and camaraderie as HF Group held its annual sporting tournament. This is more than just a day of competition, the event brings together employees from across our UK branches—representing Electrical, Mechanical, Fire & Security, Comms, and Controls.
The prize for the winner as it has been for so long, is the HF Sporting Trophy. A prize with a rich history spanning over 30 years. This trophy features the names of members of the HF family past and present from over the years and has been a part of the company’s culture for decades. Its presence on the day serves as a powerful reminder of the deep-rooted values that guide us, showcasing a commitment to employee wellbeing and team spirit that extends beyond the workplace.
A Thrilling Showdown on the Green
The day pitted new challengers against returning competitors, all eyeing a shot to dethrone the reigning champion Darren from our Fire & Security team, who, some might say has held onto the trophy for far too long. With several players vying for the top spot, the winner was decided on the final green and in a great conclusion to the day, it was Graeme Sneddon, a key member of our Green Energy team, who emerged victorious.
A Gracious Handover
Following the nail-biting finish, a presentation was held where the torch was officially passed. While Darren was gracious in defeat, he was also slightly reluctant to hand over the trophy, a testament to how much winning it had meant to him. Our new champion Graeme who works in our Mechanical & Electrical team and who’s work focuses on EV charging installations and solar power systems, accepted the trophy to a round of applause from his colleagues.
The day concluded with a celebration in the clubhouse where we got to share stories from the rounds over the course of the day. The success of the event underscores our commitment to the people who work at HF and the strong bonds that tie our team together. As the sun set, everyone was already looking forward to next year’s event to see if Graeme can defend his title, or if a new champion will emerge from the ranks to claim the prize.
