All electrical installations naturally deteriorate over time due to factors such as age, environmental conditions, and operational load. To ensure the safety of your personnel and the integrity of your property, regular inspection and testing are not just best practices, they are a legal necessity under the Electricity at Work Regulations (1989).

Commonly referred to as Periodic Inspection and Testing, these safety checks verify that your electrical infrastructure is in a satisfactory condition. Upon completion, HF issues a formal Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), providing the documented proof of compliance required by insurers, local authorities, and health and safety auditors.

What Does a Periodic Inspection Cover?

Required Testing Intervals

The frequency of mandatory testing is determined by the property type and its specific usage:

Commercial Properties: We recommend a routine check-up every year, with a mandatory full inspection at least every 5 years.
Industrial Facilities: Due to high operational loads, these often require more frequent full inspections, typically every 3 years.
Rental Properties: A full inspection is required every 5 years or at the change of a tenancy to protect both landlord and tenant.
Specialist Premises: High-risk environments such as swimming pools and spas require a full inspection every 12 months.
Domestic Dwellings: For owner-occupied homes, a full inspection is recommended every 10 years.
