Forging Teamwork Outside the Comfort Zone: The Hold Fast Beach Challenge
Real teamwork isn’t just built in the office or on active project sites, it’s forged when stepping out of our comfort zones together.
To put this into practice, team members from across our Glasgow headquarters and regional divisions recently swapped their safety boots and workwear for wetsuits to tackle the Hold Fast Beach Challenge at Yellowcraigs Beach in East Lothian.
Hosted by former Royal Navy Clearance Diver Robert Hinton and the team at Hold Fast Elite Ltd, the day challenged our staff both physically and mentally. Teams navigated a series of obstacle exercises on the sand and in the cold water designed to test communication, resilience, and problem-solving under pressure.
Engineers, project managers, and office staff from Mechanical, Electrical, Fire & Security, Comms, and Controls worked together in mixed teams. The event emphasised the connection between physical activity, mental strength, and supporting one another during tough challenges.
The day was full of energy, shared laughs, and friendly banter, finishing with a well-earned BBQ to celebrate everyone’s achievements.
