To maintain professional playing standards and significantly reduce escalating commercial utility costs, HF’s electrical division was contracted to deliver a comprehensive floodlighting modernisation project for Balgownie Bowling Club in Aberdeen.

The project required replacing legacy, high-energy sodium light fittings across the facility’s external grounds and pitches with state-of-the-art, energy-efficient 298W LED architectural floodlights. Mounted on 7.5-meter lighting columns, the new system provides crisp, uniform, daylight-standard visibility across the entire playing area, completely eliminating dark zones and glare.

The Challenge

Upgrading commercial-grade sports floodlighting presents unique logistical and structural challenges:
