At HF, we have always maintained that our strongest asset isn’t our fleet, our tools, or our technology, it is our people. With a team of over 140+ engineers operating in high-stakes environments like hospitals, power networks, and construction sites, “Safety First” is more than a slogan; it is a core operational value.
This week, our HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) team were part of a strategic summit with the wider business. The goal was simple, to look beyond our current strong safety records and identify how we can further evolve our standards for 2026 and beyond.
Beyond Compliance
While meeting statutory safety requirements is the baseline, HF aims for Safety Excellence. We believe that safety requires constant momentum and fresh thinking. The landscape of engineering is always changing, and our protocols must stay one step ahead to keep our colleagues protected.
“Our ultimate goal is absolute: making sure that every single colleague returns home safely to their families, every single day.”
Jonathan Ring, SHEQ Manager, HF Group
A Culture of Conversation
Real safety doesn’t happen in a manual; it happens on-site and in the conversations between our teams. We want to extend a huge thank you to Jonathan and Jamie for their leadership during these sessions, and to the entire business for leaning into these vital, and sometimes difficult, conversations.
By encouraging every engineer and staff member to “raise the bar,” we ensure that safety is a shared responsibility. Whether we are working in a quiet office or a busy NHS ward, the standard remains the same.
Looking Forward
As we continue to grow across our divisions, we remain committed to investing in the training and technology that keeps our team healthy. We don’t just want to be the most efficient contractor in the UK; we want to be the safest.
Because at the end of the day, we put people first. We are strongest when we respect, value, and collaborate as one team.
