Through a combination of dedication, skill and the power of professional training, one of our apprentice plumbers Taylor has been named the recipient of the highly regarded SNIPEF ‘Best Apprentice Plumber Award 2025’. The national honour, presented by the Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’ Federation (SNIPEF), celebrates the most exceptional plumbing apprentice across Scotland and Northern Ireland, recognising Taylor’s sustained excellence throughout the academic year.
Taylor received the prestigious award and his accompanying prize this week, marking a significant milestone in his promising career. His achievement not only spotlights his remarkable personal drive but also underscores the robust, quality-driven training partnership between HF and South Lanarkshire College.
The SNIPEF ‘Best Apprentice Plumber’ award is one of the most respected accolades in the industry, judged on a combination of academic achievement, practical skill, and professional conduct. Taylor clinched the 2025 title for his consistent, continued excellence in all facets of his training, demonstrating an exceptional grasp of complex technical knowledge and a flawless execution of practical work.
For HF, as a company deeply rooted in the philosophy of nurturing future talent, Taylor’s win is a source of immense pride and validation for our long-standing commitment to apprenticeship programmes.
“As Taylor’s employer, we can’t be more happier for him. This is one of many awards that Taylor has won during his time at HF, and it truly is a proven example of how successful our in-house training, with support from both SNIPEF and SLC, has been. For me, the best thing about taking on an apprentice plumber is seeing it click. Apprentices come from all different backgrounds, some straight from school, others had previous employment and come in later on in life. Everyone is different, but you just know when it clicks for them, how they start to understand and go on their own initiative rather than being told. Then seeing them progress onto engineer within the organisation and building a great career at the company. I have seen it time and time again and I am seeing it again with Taylor”

Taylor’s tutors at South Lanarkshire College echoed the high praise, highlighting his exceptional commitment from day one.
Graham Paterson, Curriculum and Quality Manager at South Lanarkshire College, shared his deep respect for the award winner.
“It’s a real pleasure to be given this opportunity to share my thoughts about one of our most exceptional students Taylor. From the very first day Taylor walked into college, he showed a level of commitment, enthusiasm, and professionalism that set him apart. His dedication to his coursework and his determination to complete his gas qualifications with precision and attention to detail have been nothing short of outstanding. Taylor is not only a skilled and hardworking apprentice but also a genuinely polite and considerate young man. He’s always ready to lend a hand to his fellow students, offering support and guidance whenever asked, and often without needing to be.”
Taylor’s success is a direct reflection of the long-term, strategic importance that apprenticeships hold within the HF Mechanical & Electrical business structure. Apprentices have always been, and remain, an important part of the HF business model. This is not simply a matter of corporate social responsibility; it is a foundational pillar of our commitment to quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement in the mechanical and electrical engineering sectors.
In a rapidly evolving industry, we understand that the only way to maintain our competitive edge and uphold our reputation for exceptional service is to develop talent internally. By investing heavily in apprenticeships, the company ensures that our workforce is trained precisely to the HF standards of quality and efficiency, and instilled with the core company values from the very beginning of their professional lives.
These company values form the moral and professional compass for every employee, and are actively promoted through the apprenticeship programme. This commitment to values and the apprenticeship model ensures a continuous pipeline of highly skilled engineers who are not only technically proficient but also fully aligned with the company culture. It is an investment that pays dividends, securing the future capability and leadership of HF Mechanical & Electrical.
There is nothing better than working in the construction industry. It’s an industry that will always be needed. The construction industry offers a clear path to professional growth, financial stability, and the tangible reward of seeing one’s work take shape, from installation to a fully operational system.
Taylor’s journey from keen apprentice to national award winner serves as a shining example and inspiration for all young people considering a career in mechanical and electrical services. His dedication has not only brought recognition to himself but also honour to his employer and his college.
From everyone at HF, congratulations Taylor.
