And it’s not just about reducing our footprint; it’s about how we’re evolving our business to include green energy services in our portfolio, from solar power installations to EV charging points and LED lighting solutions (to name just a few examples). Our people are at the core of this transformation, ensuring that sustainability becomes part of our everyday operations and the services we offer.

A People-Powered Environmental Strategy

Sustainability isn’t a one-off goal—it’s a mindset, a culture that needs to be fostered across every aspect of our operations. This October, we’re focusing on how every one of us can contribute to this mission, ensuring that we’re working collectively toward a safer and greener future.

For our engineers, who are often out on the road, you play a crucial role in this strategy. Transportation is one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions, so we’re empowering our engineers with tools and practices that can reduce this impact. From adopting eco-friendly driving habits, such as optimising routes and reducing idle time, to exploring the switch to electric vehicles where possible.  We’re also embracing remote technology where possible, which reduces the need for travel and keeps our work environmentally efficient.

In the office, we are delighted to see that our staff are equally engaged in reducing waste and conserving energy. Through recycling programs, energy-saving initiatives and a strong emphasis on digital solutions over paper, our office teams are working hard to ensure that sustainability is woven into our daily activities. These efforts, while small on their own, have a substantial impact when adopted across the board by everyone at HF.

Expanding Our Green Energy Services

Our environmental focus doesn’t just stop at reducing our own footprint; it extends to the services we offer our clients. We’re expanding our portfolio to include green energy solutions, which allows us to help other businesses and individuals reduce their environmental impact as well. This shift is driven by the same people-centred philosophy that guides our other initiatives—our team members are at the heart of delivering these new services, and they’re bringing their expertise and dedication to every project.

One of the key areas we’re embracing is solar power. As the world moves away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy, solar installations have become a critical component of a sustainable energy strategy. We are now offering solar power solutions to our clients, helping them harness clean energy to power their operations. Our engineers are trained to handle the design, installation, and maintenance of solar systems, ensuring that our clients can confidently transition to greener energy sources.

The number of EV Charging Installations we have completed has been steadily rising , not just matching the rise in ownership of electric vehicles but doing so as our reputation in the green energy sector increases. We are proud to be part of this shift toward cleaner transportation by offering EV charging solutions to businesses and residential properties alike. Whether it’s for a fleet of company vehicles or personal cars at home, our team is helping to make electric mobility more convenient and widespread.
