Brief Project Description: Our electricians have recently undertook an electrical project at an orthodontist surgery located in Glasgow. The client, concerned about the safety and efficiency of their electrical system, sought HF and our electricians expertise to conduct an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) on their premises.
The orthodontist surgery had been operating with three outdated, non-RCD protected consumer units. This configuration not only posed safety risks but also lacked the efficiency and protection required for modern electrical systems. The client needed a comprehensive solution to address these issues and bring their electrical infrastructure up to standard.
Our electricians conducted a thorough EICR, identifying several critical issues with the existing setup. Subsequently, we recommended a series of remedial works to enhance safety and efficiency. One of the key recommendations was the consolidation of the three old consumer units into a single modern, metal-cased, surge-protected unit. This new consumer unit features individual RCD protection for each circuit, significantly reducing the risk of electrical faults and improving safety measures.
Additionally, our Glasgow electricians installed a separate REC main isolator switch adjacent to the meter, further enhancing the control and safety of the electrical system. This strategic placement allowed for easy access and swift isolation of power in case of emergencies or maintenance requirements.
By implementing these recommended remedial works, we have successfully addressed the issues highlighted in the EICR. The modernisation of the electrical system not only enhanced safety standards but also improved the overall efficiency and reliability of the orthodontist surgery’s operations. The client now benefits from a robust electrical infrastructure that meets modern regulatory standards and ensures a safe environment for both staff and patients.
Through the consolidation of consumer units, installation of surge protection, and addition of an isolator switch, we have not only mitigated existing risks but also future-proofed the client’s electrical infrastructure against potential hazards. This project serves as a testament to our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of their clients.
