Domestic EV Charging Install

Our Green Energy Services Division was approached by a homeowner looking to install an EV charger at their semi detached sandstone property. The client had very clear expectations: they wanted to avoid drilling into the sandstone exterior of their home, required the cabling to be as concealed as possible. They also requested that the charger setup remain discreet when viewed from inside the house.

Our team took great care to ensure that the client’s aesthetic and functional requirements were met without compromising the integrity of the installation. To preserve the sandstone façade, we strategically drilled at a steep angle, allowing the cable to exit below the visible stone line. The armoured cable was then carefully buried to an appropriate depth, providing both protection and concealment.

To further enhance the visual appeal, we used a treated wooden fence post to house the charging unit. The post was drilled from the rear, enabling the cable to enter the back of the unit so that the cabling remained hidden from view. The post was cemented securely into place and the surrounding stones were brushed back over the base to maintain a natural, seamless appearance. By positioning the installation low to the ground, we have ensured that the new EV charger install is not visible from inside the house, delivering on all aspects of the client’s request.

The EV Charger system itself was a Easee Charger unite that complies with all current regulations while coming with a user-friendly mobile app allowing the client to manage their charger effortlessly. We also fitted a surge protection device to shield the client’s EV from transient voltage spikes while charging, providing peace of mind.
