The Slug & Lettuce

The Slug and Lettuce recently took over a venue formally known as Missoula in central Glasgow and required upgrades to the existing electrical infrastructure to meet the demands of a modern, energy-efficient establishment. HF was tasked with enhancing the venue’s electrical systems, ensuring seamless integration with the venues  existing electrical set up which was to be retained.

Our team carried out the following key services:

• Installed additional power sockets with integrated USB charging ports to expand the venue’s capabilities.
• Upgraded all lighting to energy-efficient LED fixtures, reducing energy consumption while enhancing the venue’s ambiance.
• Installed a new distribution board to accommodate increased power requirements.

Our experienced electricians began by assessing the site to create a tailored plan that incorporated the retained wiring. Working in tandem with other contractors, our team adjusted schedules and workflows to maintain steady progress ensuring all tasks were completed within the agreed three-week deadline.

The installation of new power sockets, each equipped with USB ports, added modern functionality for the venue while our electricians also upgraded the lighting system to LED fixtures that not only improved energy efficiency but also created a welcoming atmosphere for the new venue. Because of the new power requirements of the venue, we had to install a new distribution board which, once installed, was thoroughly tested to ensure reliable power delivery for the enhanced electrical system.

Project Challenges: The venue had legacy electrical systems that needed to be retained so our team carefully integrated new installations with the existing infrastructure to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards. We also had to integrate all of the new and existing systems into the distribution board which we installed.  This required meticulous planning and execution.

Multiple contractors were working simultaneously in this busy city-centre site during the fit out, requiring our electricians to coordinate closely with all parties to ensure smooth progress without delays.

The project was completed on time, transforming the venue’s electrical infrastructure to meet modern demands while retaining functional legacy components. The improvements provide the Slug and Lettuce with increased power accessibility, reliability and  capacity coupled with significant energy savings thanks to the improved lighting quality of new LED lighting upgrades.
