We were appointed by KPS to deliver a comprehensive package of electrical and small power works at Strathkelvin Retail Park in Bishopbriggs. Working closely with M&E consultant Henderson Warnock, our team successfully completed a large-scale installation that encompassed car park, canopy and signage lighting, CCTV, fire alarm alterations, and small power supplies for the central plaza.
The project involved working across multiple areas of the retail park, integrating new systems with existing infrastructure while ensuring compliance with current IEE Regulations (BS7671). Safety was a priority throughout, with all works tested and commissioned by our NICEIC-accredited team.
A significant part of the works included upgrading the electrical distribution network within the retail park. This involved the relocation and modification of several feeder pillars, the addition of surge protection, and the installation of extra circuits to meet the increased electrical demand. In some cases, entirely new equipment was installed, such as the EP3 feeder pillar, which included a new 8-way TP&N distribution board and enclosure. In other areas, such as EP5, we provided a new distribution enclosure to create a 24-hour supply option alongside upgrades to existing equipment.

The project incorporated the installation of six new dual 22kW Hydra EV chargers, powered via a dedicated EV feeder pillar and panel board. These chargers, supported by new Schneider panel boards, incomers, and surge arresters, offer modern electric vehicle charging facilities for visitors.
Small power installations were carried out to support various operational requirements within the retail park. In addition, new LED lighting was fitted throughout the external areas, including car park and canopy lighting, ensuring a low-maintenance, energy-efficient solution. Lighting controls were integrated with a central override switch located at the centre management office, providing operational flexibility. All lighting was installed with consideration for safety, including local isolation and automatic switching via PIR sensors.
Cabling was supplied and installed to the consultant’s specifications, with XLPE/SWA/LSF and single-core LSF cables selected for durability and performance. Where possible, we utilised existing containment within feeder pillars and ducting systems; in new or refurbished canopy areas, cleats and clips were used for secure cable support.
As part of the life safety systems, we carried out fire alarm works ensuring compliance with building regulations. CCTV infrastructure was also provided, enhancing site surveillance.

Through close collaboration with the client, consultants and other specialist contractors, HF and our electricians, EV Installers and Fire & Security engineers successfully delivered a robust, future-ready electrical infrastructure for Strathkelvin Retail Park.
