A Company Well Connected
HF were contracted to carry out servicing works to the air conditioning systems at Queen Anne School in Dunfermline. During the initial site inspection and servicing works, our engineers identified that the existing air conditioning system was beyond economic repair. Following this assessment, HF proposed the installation of a new, modern, energy-efficient Daikin air conditioning system, which was subsequently agreed with the client.
To avoid disruption to teaching and day-to-day classroom activities, all installation works were carefully scheduled to take place during the school’s summer holiday shutdown period. This approach allowed the project to be delivered efficiently while ensuring the school remained fully operational during term time.
The scope of works included the supply and installation of two outdoor units and sixteen indoor ceiling-mounted units, complete with new room controllers to provide improved comfort and ease of use throughout the classrooms. The existing air conditioning pipework and control cabling were fully removed and replaced with new pipework and cabling to support the upgraded system.

HF were contracted to carry out the servicing work for Queen Anne School in Dunfermline earlier in the year. Upon our initial site inspection and servicing work for the Air Conditioning system, we found the existing system was beyond repair. We costed up the installation of a new energy efficient Daikin air conditioning system which was agreed with the client before we then arranged for the installation works to be carried out during the summer holiday shut down period. This was done so that we could complete the work without interrupting day to day school classroom activities.
Works consisted of supplying and installing 2 nr outdoor units and 16 nr indoor ceiling mounted units complete with new room controllers.
The pipework and control cables of the existing air conditioning system were stripped out in their entirety and replaced with new pipework and cabling. The ceilings where new indoor mounted units were to be fitted had to be opened up along with the walls to allow the new pipework to be concealed.
Once the installation work was complete, all the openings were made good and re-painted to leave the site as we had found it.
Works were carried out and commissioned in time for the school opening again and works were completed on budget.
Project Challenges: The main challenge with this project was time. The work had to be completed during the school summer holidays and all installation work had to be completed in ample time to allow the re-painting work and finishing touches to be completed before the school re-opened for the new term. The project was completed on time so that the returning classes could now enjoy air conditioned classrooms for the hot weather ahead.
