A Company Well Connected
Our AC team successfully resolved a long-standing HVAC failure for Miller & Carter by replacing an incorrectly specified wall-mounted AC system with a specialised commercial solution. The previous unit (installed by others) was undersized and unfit for a professional kitchen, leading to frequent leaks and excessive heat. HF’s engineers installed a new, high-performance stainless steel ceiling-suspended unit specifically designed to withstand the heat and humidity of a tough commercial kitchen. This upgrade has eliminated ongoing maintenance issues, reduced operational downtime, and significantly improved working conditions for the kitchen staff.

When a high-pressure commercial kitchen environment meets the wrong climate control technology, the results are predictable: frequent breakdowns, uncomfortable working conditions, and constant maintenance costs. That is why our Air Conditioning Installers stepped in to resolve exactly this issue for Miller & Carter.
For several years, the kitchen at the Miller & Carter site had struggled with an underperforming wall-mounted AC system. Originally installed by a different contractor, the unit was fundamentally unfit for purpose.
Because the system was undersized for the heat load of a professional steakhouse kitchen, it was constantly overworked. This led to frequent water leaks and a kitchen environment that remained stiflingly hot for staff, despite the AC running at full capacity. HF’s maintenance team had highlighted these “not fit for purpose” issues, advising that a specialised solution was required to stop the cycle of constant repairs.
Recognising that a standard wall-mounted unit would never survive the grease, steam, and high temperatures of this specific workspace, we designed a solution built for endurance.
Our engineers decommissioned the failing wall unit and replaced it with a High-Performance Stainless Steel Ceiling Suspended Unit.
Why this was the correct choice:
The transformation was immediate. The kitchen staff, who had dealt with inadequate cooling for too long, now benefit from a consistent, comfortable working temperature. And for the management at Miller & Carter, the “constant issues” have vanished. By moving away from a “cheap-fix” wall unit and investing in a specialised commercial system, they have reduced their long-term maintenance spend and ensured a safer, more productive environment for their team.
This project highlights why HF is different. We don’t just replace like-for-like; we analyse the environment to ensure that the equipment we install is the right choice for the job.
