Connected Kerb EV Charger Install in North East England

Project Overview

For this project on the North East coast, we partnered with Connected Kerb to install six 7kW dual-socket EV charging stations, successfully expanding the region’s green infrastructure. The scope required a full turnkey solution, involving the careful removal and resetting of yellow perimeter safety barriers and the uplifting of monoblock paving to facilitate essential underground ducting and node box installation. By meticulously restoring the site to its original finish, we delivered a seamless integration of twelve new charging points that enhance the value of the commercial car park, future-proofing the location for EV drivers while supporting the local coastal economy.

As the UK shifts toward a greener future, the demand for reliable EV infrastructure in public and commercial spaces has never been higher. HF was commissioned by Connected Kerb to install six 7kW dual-socket charging units at a prominent car park on the North East coast of England.

This project was part of a wider initiative to improve charging accessibility for both local residents and the high volume of tourists visiting the coastline.

The Challenge

The installation required more than just electrical connectivity; it demanded a high level of civil engineering and site restoration to ensure the car park remained safe and aesthetically pleasing.

Barriers & Access: To facilitate the install, our team had to carefully remove several existing yellow perimeter safety barriers.
Groundworks: We uplifted the existing monoblock paving to install the necessary underground ducting and “node boxes”. A signature of the Connected Kerb system which keeps the sensitive tech protected below ground.
Seamless Restoration: Once the chargers were commissioned, the barriers were reset and the monoblock was meticulously relaid to match the original layout, ensuring zero trip hazards and a professional finish.

Connected Kerb 7kW Dual Chargers

The 7kW dual units are the ideal “long-stay” solution for coastal car parks. While rapid chargers are great for motorways, 7kW chargers allow visitors to plug in and enjoy time at the beach, local shops, or restaurants, before returning to a recharged battery.

By installing dual-socket units, we effectively provided 12 independent charging points across 6 pedestals, maximising the utility of the parking bays without cluttering the environment.
