Celebrating Margaret Cairney’s 45 Years with the HF Family
Time flies when you are the heart and soul of a company and it seems like only yesterday we were celebrating Margaret Cairney’s 40th anniversary. Today, we mark an even more incredible milestone: 45 years of loyalty, laughter and dedicated service with the HF Family.
Margaret joined us on March 27, 1981, as a sixteen-year-old office junior. Since then, she has worked alongside three generations of the Fulton family, evolving from the “friendly face of the office” to a bona fide HF institution.
As our Chairman Hugh M. Fulton once noted, her contribution to the “party” over the decades is impossible to quantify. Whether she’s hounding contract managers or “bursting” anyone who dares to be rude, Margaret’s tenacity is matched only by her kindness.
She is the first person to pass around an envelope for a birthday, a new baby, or a special event. Her 45 years aren’t just defined by professional excellence, but by the personal touches, having given years of dedicated service to the Rainbow charity while raising her two daughters and five grandchildren.
From the “oops duo” days with Joyce Fulton to surviving the infamous fall down the Osborne St stairs with the red box, it has been nearly five decades of incredible memories.
45 Years of “Maggie Mayhem”
She has seen the transition from pre-mobile phone days where she acted as the ultimate gatekeeper for the Chairman to the modern era, all while maintaining her signature wit and classic catchphrases.
“There is never a day where Wee Mags will not manage to put a smile on your face. She is an integral part of our office function and a true one-off.”
Hugh R. Fulton, Managing Director
From the old office at Osborne Street to the halls of Albert Drive, Margaret has been the “Mortise & Tenon” holding the Glasgow office together. Whether she’s “calming your brogues” or chasing a boogie on the dancefloor at the Christmas party, her energy remains unchanged.
Margaret, as you hit 45 years, we want to say thank you. Thank you for the “pampering” lunches of years past, for the persistence in credit control, and for the genuine care you show every member of the team.
Here is to 45 years of being a legend, a mentor, and a friend. We simply can’t imagine HF without you.
