We have an exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to join the HF family in a full-time permanent role based in Glasgow leading to Mechanical Estimator position upon completion of training (normal timescale 18-24months) this is a role that promises unique challenges, a varied workload and great career progression opportunities within the company.

We are currently looking to recruit a Trainee Mechanical Estimator to join our Mechanical division.

Salary negotiable upon experience.

Hours of work Monday – Thursday 08:30 – 16:45, Friday 08:30 – 16:00

The Position

This role has been devised with a plumber or pipefitter in mind who has a good knowledge of the HVAC Heating Air-Conditioning and is looking for their next career move. Your role within the business involves preparing Mechanical estimates and detailed tender submissions for projects in value from £10k to £5m.

The Role

As a trainee estimator you will learn how to review the suitability / feasibility of the tender / estimate enquiry; preparation and issuing of sub-contract packages for:

• Tender preparation and submission
• Material / labour take-off
• Sub-contract compliance analysis
• Tender reviews with Directors
• Preparation of the tender submission / supporting case study information applicable and suitable from a commercial perspective

You will be trained in the process of estimating and preparing details cost plans and budgetary quotations and ensure that you assist the project team with estimating and measuring variations, sub-contract compliance issues, client/sub-contract negotiation and ensuring that the design is suitable from a commercial perspective.

You may be asked to attend mid/post tender interviews and pre-start meetings for each project and design team and attend meetings (if required) to represent / protect the business commercially. You will have good contractual awareness and be commercially astute

• Good Microsoft office skills – to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to take ownership of their duties and a willingness to grow and learn within the team and the Company
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Demonstrate a good ability to work in a fast-paced environment
