All electrical wiring and installations deteriorate over time and to ensure their safe use in the work place, regular inspection and testing should be completed to check that all your electrical equipment is in a satisfactory condition for use by you and your employees in the workplace. These inspection and testing safety checks are commonly referred to as ‘periodic inspection and testing’. Each time your business completes its periodic inspection and testing, you will be issued with an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR).
Periodic Inspection and Testing covers:
Checking that all electrical circuits and equipment are not being overloaded.
Checking that there are no potential electrical shock risks and fire hazards.
Checking for defective electrical work
Checking that all electrical equipment is properly earthed.
Periodic Inspection and Testing should be carried our every:
1 Year for Commercial Properties (this is the recommended routine check up. The maximum period is 5 years.)
5 Years for Rental Property
10 Years for occupied premises
1 Year for Swimming Pools and similar premises
