Client: The Lochar Inn
Completion date: 06/2021
HF divisions involved: Mechanical
Brief project description: The oil tank for The Lochar Inn’s heating system had been vandalised and had fallen into a state of disrepair. We were contracted to remove the old oil tank, replace it with a new oil tank, carry out repair work and create a new secure enclosure space as well as arranging for recommissioning testing that is essential for the property to continue trading.
Project Challenges: We found that the existing oil tank was positioned too close to the wooden security fencing which was within 760mm of the tank. The existing fencing was not fit for purpose and was a fire hazard. As such, this was replaced with metal security fencing complete with gate access that was spaced as per OFTEC requirements.
We also discovered that the tank had been broken into with the tank lid snapped. The oil tank was of an old, single skin design which, for safety and security reasons was replaced with a new bundled tank unit that comes with a more accurate digital gauge to allow the customer to monitor the oil levels in the tank.
