50 Years of NSI Fire & Security

Fire & Security, Information

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) is one of the UKs most highly trusted and respected accreditation for Fire & Security providers like ourselves.

They are a completely independent organisation that is a not for profit organisation that helps to protect residential home owners and businesses across the UK.

NSI Accredited Gold Standard Fire & Security

As an NSI approved company, we are committed to the highest standard for our Fire & Security services, quality and continued desire to improve our services for our customers and are delighted to be part of the NSI as they celebrate 50 years.

Starting in 1971 as the National Supervisory Council for Intruder Alarms (NSCIA), the NSCIA became the NACOSS in 1991 thanks to a merger between the NSCIA and the SSI (Security Systems Inspectorate) and their quality assurance scheme was launched.

In 1992  the Inspectorate of the Security Industry (ISI) was formed and NACOSS received the NACCB accreditation to deliver BS 5750 Quality Assurance Certification which was the precursor to ISO 9001.

In 1999, NSI became a founding stakeholder in the apprentice Engineers of Tomorrow and then in 2002 became the first certification body licensed by BAFE to provide third party certification for providers of fire detection and alarm systems.

In 2012, NSI was granted UKAS accreditation that allowed them to deliver BAFE’sLife Safety Fire Risk Assessment Scheme SP205.

By 2016, the number of NSI approved companies in the UK had reached 1800 and as the company is now celebrating 50 years of delivering certification and raising the standards for Fire and Security across the UK, we look forward to the next 50 years.
